The fact that the "she-devil with a sword" is always running around in a bikini inspired me to have one of my recurring fictional characters do the same.
It’s funny. In the classic Sonja stories I’ve read so far, the chain-mail bikini doesn’t strike me as gratuitous. Which seems insane. But she’s such a badass, I just roll with her whole look.
Plus I imagine any in-story characters commenting negatively on her outfit would get put in their place swiftly and probably brutally.
Jefferson Ball (my character) doesn't wear chainmail bikinis; she wears conventional ones in black, monogrammed. And only those- which comes as a shock to her friend.
